Top 10 - NANA

Starting now, I will post my TOP 10 ANIME SERIES THAT INSPIRE ME.

It will consist of an art of my favorite character from that series (made by me, of course) and a short explanation of why that series inspire me.

Here's number 10!

Komatsu Nana

... aka Hachi. Nana Komatsu is one of the protagonist in the series NANA, the other being Nana Osaki. Both lived very different lives and having very different personalities. Hachi is a sheltered country gal who dreams for the city life and the happy ending while Nana is a lead vocalist for the locally famous Black Stones, a punk band. The two Nanas meet by chance on a train ride to Tokyo where their fates became entertwined with one another.

Usually, Hachi is the type of character I dislike. She is self-absorbed, too optimistic and falls in love easily (if she didn't have a child-like mind, she'll be called a slut). However, she is capable of great acts of kindness and in the long run, matures to be a wise woman. I guess I see my flaws in Hachi to the point I'm really frustrated with her actions - because they mirror some of mine. Hopefully, with my experiences, I may become a wise woman too but without the huge mistakes (like marrying not out of love but of obligation).

Nana is a good series, it's a masterpiece and, dare I say, the flagship of Shojou manga. It made me cry, it made me laugh, frustrated and inspired. I tend to avoid the slice of life genre because it's too much drama (it's borderline fake) but Nana managed to keep it real.

Go watch it!
